As you know, or, as you SHOULD know, being a redhead
affords you an automatic boost of 50 IQ points. If you were
born a redhead, you are born 50 IQ points ahead of everyone
else on the planet. If you were born with cornsilk hair and then
later, your hair turned red, you still get the 50 IQ points
above all non-redheads. Even if you dye your otherwise sad locks
red, you still get the 50 IQ points; however, the moment
you let the red go, so also goes the 50 IQ points.
Only an estimated 4 percent of the population is born with red hair (only 2% in the U.S.), due to the recessive nature of the gene that produces it. That gene, the melanocortin 1 receptor, was discovered on the 16th of the 23 human chromosome pairs in 1995 by Jonathan Rees, a professor at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
