...means that we have full confidence in the things we hope for, it means being certain of things we cannot see.
...is the assurance, the confirmation, the title-deed of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality -- faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.
The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see.
The act of faith is what distinguishes and sets a believer apart from the crowd.
no one can say that faith is easy; easy to do; easy to have. It's not like a simple surgical procedure: make a little opening, shove the faith in, sew it closed. can't swallow a faith pill for the body to absorb.
whence, therefore, comes faith to us? how is it incorporated into our persona? how can we meld it into the cellular structure of our body and soul? how does it become the backbone of our spirit, grounding us firmly in a reality that is not of our own making? how does grace and mercy fit into the scenario? what does God want from us, anyway? who can prove it? how can we come to definitive answers/conclusions?
